Who's Better???
People went silent. I can feel her feeling.Contentment and faith.
I am not a very good Christian. I don't go to church on Sundays. I don't even know how to pray the novena but one thing that makes me feel worthy as a Christian, I never stopped thanking and praising God even at my smallest victory and grace he had blessed me.
Last week I decided to go home and celebrate St. Vincent's feast with my family. I was riding a jeep which is a famous commuting vehicle in my place. Many passengers are there too including two old women, between the ages of 50 to 60. They were in front of me busy doing there little chats about anything under the sun. They would talk about the house they have, the lot their house was built...the place they were born into...the country's economy....everything that passes by their minds.
I just don't mind what they are talking until a young lad went aboard. they greeted the guy and the young man did the same. They went on with their talks until they bounced on the more controversial thing...religion.
The other woman which I will be naming as Melly, said " I am not a very good Christian, I don't go to church every Sunday, but I can tell by myself that I am a good person, and being good is just what it takes to go to heaven. Other religions like I%^&&C, claims they have the way to heaven, but I say, you're the only one who can save yourself. The lines really struck me. It's like, is she talking for me? The other woman nodded in agree.
They guy beside, who just went aboard grinned. As if criticizing what's she just said. A grin of disbelief. The woman noticed this expression and she came to ask...Are you one of them? The guys answered her, "Yes"
The woman said, I don't mean to disgrace your church's name. I am just telling everyone who can hear me my thoughts. It's up to you if you believe it or not. I have nothing against your church.
The guy answered her and stating the verse where their church's name was LITERALLY stated. He explained that they were the chosen one because the Bible announced their church's name. Then all the passengers laugh. I also laughed not for discrimination, but for the argue itself. It's pretty interesting.
The old woman told him, " Young man, I am and old woman. I went through difficult times of life but here I am. My faith made me stand here firmly believing that God is with me always. I don't spread the good news because I think there are people intended to do that. My only duty is to keep myself good at all times. Yes I am a sinner, but I know how to say sorry, to forgive others and my self. I have faith in God which I acquired by not going to church. I learned to have faith all by myself".
People went silent. I can feel her feeling.Contentment and faith.
I smiled at her and said. "I have learned so much". She laughed. I smiled.
Let's try to think of it, Who's better? Someone who went church and praise God which is just a part of playing good in everyone's eyes or someone who seldom goes to the temple of God but everyday keeps Jesus in his heart?
